The professional maternal assistant is the natural person, certified under the conditions of Government Decision no. 679/2003, who provides through his/her activity at his/her domicile the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children placed in his/her care.

The person who requests to become a professional maternal assistant will submit an application for capacity assessment to DGASPC Mehedinți. The application will mandatorily mention the number of children for whom the applicant believes can simultaneously ensure optimal care conditions, their age group and sex, the availability to care for children with disabilities/handicaps, infected with HIV or suffering from AIDS.

The application will include the applicant's Curriculum Vitae as well as the reasons for wishing to become a professional maternal assistant.
