This methodology applies within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

Teaching positions obtained at other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned above are recognized only based on an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.

The procedure is described in Methodology regarding the recognition of the PhD diploma in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, as well as the quality of PhD supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, approved by the Senate of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad on 25.07.2019. This methodology is applied within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

Applicants who are eligible to submit requests for recognition of the PhD diploma and the title of PhD in sciences or in a professional field, at "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad are those who have obtained the title of PhD at:

a) accredited higher education or research-development institutions from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation;

b) accredited higher education or research-development institutions included in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research, updated periodically;

c) accredited higher education or research-development institutions that are subject to an international convention on mutual recognition, concluded at the intergovernmental or inter-university level.

All applicants who have obtained the PhD diploma and the title of PhD at accredited higher education or research-development institutions abroad, other than those mentioned above, will address the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas, hereinafter referred to as C.N.R.E.D., for recognition of the PhD diploma and the title of PhD in sciences or in a professional field.

The applicant's file will contain:

a) recognition request;

b) identity document - copy and proof of name change - copy and certified translation (if applicable);

c) PhD diploma;

d) curriculum vitae and list of publications and scientific contributions

The study documents subject to recognition are authenticated with the Hague Apostille for states that are parties to the Hague Convention, and for other states, the study documents are superlegalized or accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the competent authorities from the country of origin. Exemption from apostille or super-legalization is permitted under the law, an international treaty to which Romania is a party, or based on reciprocity.

The applicant's file for the recognition of the PhD diploma obtained abroad by the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad is sent, in the first stage, by email to: rectorat@uav.ro, subject: Recognition of PhD diploma/PhD title. The file is registered after the documents are checked.

The quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained in accredited higher education institutions in the member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other states provided in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the minister of national education and scientific research and updated periodically, is automatically recognized by "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

The quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained at other accredited higher education institutions abroad, other than those mentioned above, is recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at an intergovernmental or interuniversity level.

The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens of the member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and citizens of third states.

For the recognition of the quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, the applicant must submit the recognition file to "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, which will include the following documents:

a) Application for recognition;

b) Identity document and proof of name change (if applicable);

c) Doctoral diploma, if the study document is obtained in Romania or at one of the accredited higher education institutions listed in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the minister of national education and scientific research and updated periodically, respectively CNRED recognition certificate, if the study document is obtained at other accredited higher education institutions abroad;

d) Diploma/certificate attesting the quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, issued by the institutions provided in art.5, para (1) and (2);e) CV and list of publications & scientific contributions. The file is registered after the verification of the documents.
