The National Assessment for 8th grade students represents the method of external summative evaluation of the competences acquired during lower secondary education.
The exam is held annually in a single session. Both candidates from public education and those from private education have the right to take the NA free of charge.
The average grade obtained at NA VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
National-level coordination of the planning, organization, and conduct of NA VIII, as well as the valorization of the results, are ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for Assessment and Examination (CNEE).
The elaboration of the specific evaluation procedures is carried out by the CNEE, after consultation with the specialized departments of the ministry.
County/Bucharest municipality-level coordination of the organization of NA VIII, as well as the valorization of the results, are ensured by the school inspectorate.
