The filing of a trademark and a geographical indication application at OSIM is not mandatory and is subject to a fee, the fee regime being established by Government Ordinance no.41/1998, regarding fees in the field of industrial property protection and their usage regime, with subsequent amendments and completions. The standard forms “National trademark registration application” or “Geographical indication registration application” must be filled out in 2 copies and accompanied by proof of fee payment. These can be submitted online by following the link https://www.osim.ro/depuneri-online-marci, by mail, or at the OSIM headquarters. The examination of a national trademark or geographical indication application is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Law 84/1998 on trademarks and geographical indications, republished, and the implementing regulations.
