The procedure establishes the method of analyzing requests for the authorization/extension of authorization of legal entities. The applicant legal entity submits to the headquarters of the territorial unit of BRML (Regional Directorate of Legal Metrology or the County Service of Legal Metrology) in whose area it is registered, a letter of intent, accompanied by a list of assortments/sub-assortments of measuring instruments and types of metrological verifications for which it requests the authorization of the metrology laboratory.
Remedies: In accordance with the provisions of art. 29(1) of the Legal Metrology Instructions IML5-05 Authorization of natural and legal persons performing metrological verifications, approved by Government Decision no. 1660/2005, with subsequent amendments and additions, any decision to refuse the authorization is duly reasoned, communicated to the applicant within 10 working days of the decision, and the decision specifies the applicant's possibility to appeal to the competent courts, under the conditions of the law.

The letter of intent is an official document that precedes the authorization request through which an economic operator expresses their intention to authorize/extend the authorization of their own metrology laboratory for carrying out metrological verifications of measuring instruments subject to legal metrological control. If the metrology laboratory operates in several locations, the list of assortments/sub-assortments of measuring instruments and types of metrological verifications will be drawn up for each individual location. For a new evaluation process, the letter of intent shall also be submitted in situations where DRML/SJML has notified the applicant of the complete refusal of the authorization request or the conclusion of the previous authorization process.*
