Recognition of specific initial training for the teaching career in pre-university education in Romania*

The recognition of specific initial training for a teaching career in pre-university education in Romaniaconsists in the evaluation and compatibility assessment of the level, field, and/or specialization completed in member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and abroad, by reference to the Romanian education system, taking into account the conditions for practicing the teaching profession in pre-university education in Romania.

The recognition is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Research, through the General Directorate for Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-University Education, the competent authority for the teaching profession in pre-university education and may be concluded with the issuance of a certificate recognizing the right to practice the teaching profession in pre-university education in Romania, granting the holder the right to register for the competition to occupy vacant/reserved positions/chairs in a pre-university education institution in Romania, under the conditions provided by current legislation.

The decision of the General Directorate for Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-university Education may be contested only once, within 15 working days from the date of acknowledgment, by a motivated request.

The General Directorate for Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-university Education will rule on the requests within 45 working days. The resolution deadline may be extended in justified cases, the applicant being informed accordingly.

The rejection decision of the appeal may be challenged by the applicant in court.
