The legal person who requires authorization for his metrological laboratory must file to the head office of the BRML territorial unit an application accompanied by the documents required by the legal metrology procedure PML 5-04-05, 4th edition-Requirements for metrological laboratories-approved by Order no. 61/2011. PML 5-04-05 of the BRML Director General. PML 5-04-05 4th edition is available on the BRML website at http://www.brml.ro/proceduri-de-metrologie-legala. The Laboratory Authorization will be issued within 30 days after the registration of application, if non-conformities were not found during assessment, or 60 days after the registration of application, if non-conformities were found during assessment.

In accordance with the provisions of art. 29(1) of the legal metrology instructions IML 5-05 Authorization of individuals and legal entities who perform metrological verifications, approved by Government Decision no. 1660/2005, with subsequent amendments and completions, any decision to deny authorization is properly justified, is communicated to the applicant within 10 working days from its adoption, and within the decision the applicant is informed of the possibility to address the competent courts, in accordance with the law.
