The professional foster carer is the individual, certified under the conditions of the law by the Child Protection Commission, who, through their activity at their home, provides the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children they receive in placement or entrustment.
Only persons who meet the following conditions can be certified as professional foster carers:
•have full legal capacity;
•through their behavior in society, health condition, and psychological profile, provide guarantees for the correct fulfillment of the obligations that fall to a parent, regarding the upbringing, care, and education of their children;
•have at their disposal a home that covers the needs for food preparation, hygiene, education, and rest of its users, including those of the children who are to be received in placement or entrustment;
•do not engage in salaried activities;
•have attended the professional training courses organized by the specialized public service for child protection or the authorized private body that conducts the evaluation for granting the professional foster carer certificate.
