DECLARATION OF DEATH  It is made before the civil status officer of any Local Community Public Service for Personal Records (S.P.C.L.E.P.), or the town hall of the administrative-territorial unit where these services are not established. The verbal declaration may be made by any member of the deceased’s family or, in their absence, by one of the following persons: a) the doctor or other staff from the medical unit where the death occurred; b) any person who has knowledge of the death. ISSUANCE OF THE DEATH CERTIFICATE  The death certificate is issued at the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, at the town hall of the administrative-territorial unit in whose jurisdiction the death occurred or the body was found. DEADLINE FOR DECLARING THE DEATH ARE:  3 days from the date of death, in case the cause of death is natural;  3 days, calculated from the date of issuance of the medical death certificate, when death is due to suicide, accident, or other violent causes, as well as in the case of finding a body. The fees charged for this public service are established by local council decision.
