On the basis of civil status documents, certificates/multilingual extracts of birth and marriage are issued to the holders or their legal representatives, while death certificates/multilingual extracts are issued to family members, entitled persons, or, with the approval of the mayor of the administrative-territorial unit that registered the death, to other persons who justify a legitimate interest. Civil status certificates/Multilingual extracts of civil status documents may also be issued to other persons authorized by a special power of attorney, as well as to lawyers authorized by the holders, their legal representatives, or, in the case of the death certificate/multilingual extract, by the entitled persons or family members, as the case may be, based on a power of attorney issued in compliance with the provisions of Law no. 51/1995 on the organization and practice of the lawyer profession, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions, and the Statute of the lawyer profession, adopted by Decision of the Council of the National Union of Romanian Bar Associations no. 64/2011, with subsequent amendments and completions. Titles of nobility, even if registered in some civil status documents, will not be included in civil status certificates/multilingual extracts. The fees charged for this public service are established by decision of the Local Council.
