The Romanian citizen is obliged, within 6 months from the registration of the civil status act or fact with foreign authorities, or from the date of acquiring/reacquiring Romanian citizenship, to request the transcription of the civil status certificates/extracts at the local public community service for persons' records or at the city hall of the competent administrative-territorial unit, or at the diplomatic missions or career consular offices of Romania. The transcription of the civil status certificates/extracts/multilingual extracts is carried out abroad with the approval of the heads of diplomatic missions or career consular offices, and in the country with the approval of the mayor of the administrative-territorial unit of the domicile/last domicile in Romania of the holder or applicant, as appropriate, and the conforming notice of the head of the county public community service for persons’ records/local public community service for persons’ records of the Bucharest municipality sector, and their refusal must be reasoned. The fees charged for this public service are established by a decision of the local council.
