Written proof regarding the date of loss of Romanian citizenship – certificate issued by the Romanian diplomatic mission or the General Directorate of Passports, or a copy of the Government decision approving the renunciation of Romanian citizenship by the applicant or their ancestors up to and including the second degree (parents, grandparents). If such proof does not exist, the following are required: – certificate of naturalization or certificate proving the acquisition of foreign citizenship, in a legalized copy, with apostille and legalized translation, which shows that the applicant or the applicant’s ancestors (parents, grandparents), former Romanian citizens, obtained for the first time after leaving Romania a foreign citizenship, indicating the date it was granted; – documents showing the date when the applicant or the applicant’s ancestors (parents, grandparents), former Romanian citizens, emigrated from Romania (legalized copy of the Romanian passport with the exit visa or travel document);*

For persons requesting the reacquisition of Romanian citizenship with domicile in Romania: Proof of residence in Romania: a) by rental contract registered with the Financial Administration in a notarized copy. b) by sale-purchase contract in a notarized copy and land register excerpt for information of the owner for the property in question. c) by loan-for-use (commodate) contract in a notarized copy and land register excerpt for information of the owner for the property in question. d) by authenticated declaration at a notary of hosting and land register excerpt for information of the owner for the property in question. Proof of legal source of existence in Romania (for persons requesting the reacquisition of Romanian citizenship with domicile in Romania).*

The document proving payment of the citizenship card fee, both for the holder and for minor children included in the application, if applicable.
