The professional maternal assistant is the natural person, certified under the conditions of Government Decision no. 679/2003, who ensures through his/her activity carried out at home the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children placed in foster care. Conditions for obtaining the professional maternal assistant certificate:

For a person to receive the professional maternal assistant certificate, he/she must:

• have full legal capacity;

• through his/her behavior in society, health status, and psychological profile, provide guarantees for the correct fulfillment of the obligations incumbent upon a parent regarding the upbringing, care, and education of their children;

• have at their disposal a dwelling that meets the needs for food preparation, hygiene, education, and rest for its users, including the children who are to be received in foster care;

• attend the professional training courses organized by D.G.A.S.P.C Ialomița

Cannot be a maternal assistant:

• the person who has been convicted by a final court decision for intentionally committing a crime;

• a person who suffers from communicable diseases;

• a parent deprived of parental rights;

Persons domiciled in Ialomița county, interested in becoming professional maternal assistants, submit to the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Ialomița a request to assess their capacity, accompanied by the documents listed below.

The certificate is issued by the Child Protection Commission Ialomița, and is valid for 3 years.
