Institutional procedure for the recognition at UPT of academic teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad*

This procedure applies at the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) for the recognition of academic teaching positions in higher education obtained at accredited higher education institutions abroad.
In accordance with legal provisions and this procedure, UPT recognizes the academic teaching positions of Romanian citizens, citizens of member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and citizens of third countries, as follows:
- Academic teaching positions obtained at accredited higher education institutions in member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and at prestigious universities in other states included in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and updated periodically, are automatically recognized by UPT.
- Academic teaching positions obtained at other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned in letter a) are recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or inter-university level.
UPT consults, if necessary, the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (hereinafter referred to as CNRED) and the National Council for Certification of Titles, Diplomas, and University Certificates.
Occupying a teaching position at the Politehnica University of Timișoara is carried out according to the legal norms in force.
Art. 2.
The recognition of academic teaching positions by UPT, according to this procedure, is valid and produces legal effects at UPT level. In the event that the recognition of the teaching position has been carried out by CNRED, it is valid and produces legal effects throughout the entire territory of Romania.

The applicant may contest the decision issued under the conditions of art.5, within 10 days from the communication. The contestation must be formulated in writing and submitted to the UPT Registry, either in person or by mail. In the case of sending the contestation by mail, the date of the contestation is the date on which the UPT staff member signs the confirmation of receipt, and in the case of submission at the UPT registry, it is the date the contestation is registered. The contestation will be resolved by the contestation commission within a maximum of 30 days from registration. The commission's decision will be communicated to the applicant and is final in the administrative procedure.
