Recognition of qualifications obtained on the territory of other EU member states in regulated health professions, for the purpose of practicing as a pharmacist on the territory of Romania*

For the recognition of the pharmacist qualification obtained in an EU member state, a state belonging to the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, the following steps are followed

1. the nationals of these states submit to the Ministry of Health a file containing the documents below; the file can also be sent by postal/courier services with confirmation of receipt.

2. after registration, the content of the file is checked at the level of the Human Resources Center in Public Health (CRUSP) in relation to the list of documents, including their validity terms

3. in the case of incomplete files, the applicant is notified for the completion with the missing or non-compliant documents.

4. complete files are forwarded for analysis to the professional organization - the College of Pharmacists of Romania.

5. the professional organization issues, as the case may be, the recognition approval or the application of compensatory measures (aptitude test or adaptation period).

6. the Ministry of Health drafts the recognition order of the professional qualification or notifies the applicant regarding the implementation of the compensatory measures, as the case may be.

The certificate issued by the competent authorities of the member state of origin or provenance, certifying that the official qualifications are those provided for by Directive 2005/36/EC*

Document regarding the physical and mental health of the holder issued by the member state of origin or provenance. The document is valid for 3 months from the date of issue and must be submitted within the validity period. In the situation where, for access and practice of the respective profession, the member state of origin or provenance does not issue this document to its citizens, the applicant shall submit an equivalent certificate to the health certificate, issued by that member state.*

Evidence issued by the member state of origin or provenance regarding good character, morality, or the absence of any situation that suspends or prohibits the exercise of the profession in case of serious professional misconduct, namely a certificate confirming the absence of temporary or definitive suspensions from the exercise of the profession or any criminal convictions. The document is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance and must be submitted within its validity period. If the member state of origin or provenance does not issue this document to its citizens, the applicant shall submit the certificate issued on the basis of a sworn statement or solemn declaration by the applicant, by the competent judicial or administrative authority or, as the case may be, by the notary or professional organization authorized for this purpose by that state.*

Malpractice insurance*

The certificate issued by banks, including insurance companies from one of the EU member states, EEA states or the Swiss Confederation, attesting that the holder is insured against pecuniary risks arising from professional liability according to the legal provisions in force in Romania regarding the terms and extension of this guarantee. The document is valid for 3 months from the date of issuance and must be submitted within its validity period.*
