The theft of weapon permits must be reported within 48 hours from the time of discovery to the police authority in whose jurisdiction it was discovered, while the loss, destruction, or deterioration must be reported to the police authority that issued them. The issuance of a new document to replace the one declared lost or stolen is done only after the holder presents proof of publication of the loss or theft in the Official Gazette of Romania.
In the case of reporting theft, loss or destruction, in third countries, of the travel document in which weapons, essential components, and ammunition with which the holder left Romania are registered, the holder must appear with the weapons entered in the document at the diplomatic mission or consular office of Romania in the state where the event occurred, which, after verifying with the Romanian General Police Inspectorate the legal status of these weapons, issues the holder with a certificate in which the identity data of the holder, as well as the make, type, and serial numbers of the weapons are entered.
The theft of the European firearms passport must be reported, within 48 hours from the time of discovery, to the police authority in whose territorial jurisdiction it was discovered, while the loss, destruction, or deterioration must be reported to the police authority that issued it. The issuance of a new document to replace the one declared lost or stolen is done only after the holder presents
proof of publication of the loss or theft in the Official Gazette of Romania.
Abroad, Romanian citizens must declare the theft of the European firearms passport to the competent police authorities, and the loss or destruction of this document to the diplomatic mission or consular office of Romania in the state where the event occurred.
