In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched for students in state education, primary and secondary, daytime courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each class are distributed.

The composition of the school supplies packages granted to students is determined based on the Methodology for applying the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for approving the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.

Funding request submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program Aid for Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020 was approved. The decision allows, starting this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, as well as the addition of backpacks to the packs of supplies granted to students in primary and secondary school.
