The purpose of this procedure is to regulate the recognition at the level of the West University of Timișoara (UVT) of the quality of PhD supervisor, for affiliation to the doctoral schools within IOSUD-UVT.

The recognition of the quality of PhD supervisor, obtained abroad, is made on the basis of the Order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research no. 5921/2016 for the approval of the Methodology regarding the automatic recognition, by higher education institutions, respectively institutions organizing doctoral studies in Romania, of the quality of PhD supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad.

(1) The quality of PhD supervisor or habilitation obtained in accredited higher education institutions from member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation and in prestigious universities from other states included in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by the order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research no. 5825/2016 and periodically updated, is automatically recognized by UVT.

(2) The quality of PhD supervisor or habilitation obtained in other accredited higher education institutions abroad, other than those mentioned in paragraph (1), is recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.

(3) The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens of member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation and citizens of third countries.
