Details
The state allowance for children is granted to all children up to 18 years old, without discrimination. The state allowance for children is also granted to young people who have reached the age of 18, who are attending high school or vocational education courses, organized according to the law, until graduation, except for those who repeat the school year, except those who repeat for health reasons, proven with a medical certificate.
Children of foreign citizens and stateless persons residing under the law in Romania, if they live together with their parents, also benefit from the state allowance for children.
This right can be requested by any of the child's natural parents, as well as the person who has adopted a child, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

For legal representatives requesting the establishment of entitlement to the state allowance, according to Law 61/1993 (republished), whose children were born in one of the member states of the European Union or whose children have lived together with their parents for a certain period in one of these member states, it is mandatory to complete and attach to the allowance file Annex no.1 to Council Regulation no.1408/1971. Additionally, persons who have had or have residence in one of the member states of the European Union will also present residence documents, in copy.*
