The conditions for granting the state allowance for children
The state allowance for children provided by Law no. 61/1993 regarding the state allowance for children, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions, is granted to all children up to the age of 18, Romanian citizens, without discrimination, as well as to young people who have turned 18 years old, who are attending high school or vocational education courses organized according to the law, until their completion.
Children of foreign citizens, as well as children of stateless persons residing in Romania, under the law, if they live together with their parents, also benefit from the state allowance for children.
Applications for establishing the state allowance for children and the documents proving the fulfillment of the legal conditions for granting this right are submitted and registered at the city hall of the commune, town, municipality, or sectors of the municipality of Bucharest, within whose territorial area the legal representatives of the children have their domicile or residence, as the case may be.
The right to the state allowance for children is established, by decision of the executive director of the county social benefits agencies, starting with the month following the one in which the child was born, and the payment of the rights is made starting with the month following the submission of the application.
The amount of the state allowance for children is:
– 631 lei for children up to 2 years old
– 256 lei for children over 2 years old
– 631 lei for children between 3 and 18 years old classified with a degree of disability
