The procedure regulates the method of registering mentions regarding the inscription of the name/first name with the orthography of the mother tongue.

The person whose family name or first name has been registered in civil status documents translated into a language other than the mother tongue or with the orthography of another language may request the registration—by mention in the margin of these documents—of the family name or first name retranslated or with the orthography of the mother tongue, both in the sections regarding the holder and those relating to his/her parents.

The request is submitted to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, to the city hall of the administrative-territorial unit of residence, or directly to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, to the headquarters of the city hall that holds the civil status document.
