The National Assessment for 8th grade students represents the external summative evaluation method of the competences acquired during lower secondary education.
The exam takes place annually, in a single session. Both candidates from public education and those from private education have the right to take the NA without a fee.
The average obtained at NA VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
The national coordination of the planning, organization, and conduct of NA VIII, as well as the capitalization of its results, is ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for Assessment and Examination (CNEE).
The elaboration of the specific assessment procedures is carried out by CNEE after consulting the specialized departments within the ministry.
The county-level/Bucharest municipality coordination of the organization of NA VIII, as well as the capitalization of its results, is ensured by the school inspectorate.
