The National Assessment for 8th grade students represents the form of external summative evaluation of the competencies acquired throughout lower secondary education.
The exam is held annually in a single session. Both candidates from public education and those from private education have the right to take the National Assessment without any fee.
The average obtained at the National Assessment VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
National-level coordination of the planning, organization, and administration of the National Assessment VIII, as well as the valorization of its results, are ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for Assessment and Examination (CNEE).
The development of specific assessment procedures is carried out by CNEE, following consultation with the specialty departments of the ministry.
County/Bucharest municipality-level coordination of the organization of the National Assessment VIII, as well as the valorization of its results, are ensured by the school inspectorate.
