In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, addressing students in state, primary and lower secondary education, full-time courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each class are distributed.

The composition of school supplies packages granted to students is established based on the Methodology for the application of the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.

The funding application submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Programme for the Aid of Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, and the addition of backpacks to the packages of supplies granted to students in primary and lower secondary cycles.
