The National Evaluation for eighth grade students is the external summative assessment method of the competencies acquired during middle school education.
The exam is held annually in a single session. Both candidates coming from public education and those from private education have the right to take the National Evaluation (EN) free of charge.
The average grade obtained at EN VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
The national-level coordination of the design, organization, and conduction of EN VIII, as well as the capitalization of its results, is ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for Assessment and Examination (CNEE).
The development of specific assessment procedures is carried out by CNEE, following consultations with the specialized departments within the ministry.
The county-level or Bucharest municipality coordination of organizing EN VIII, as well as the capitalization of its results, is ensured by the school inspectorate.
