In order to stimulate school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which targets students in state education, primary and lower secondary, day courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each grade are distributed.

The contents of the school supply packages granted to students are established based on the Methodology for implementing the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for approving the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.

Funding request submitted by the Ministry of National Education at the beginning of September 2017 through the Operational Program for Assistance of Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020 was approved. The decision allows, starting this school year, the procurement of supplies for preschool children and, respectively, the supplementation with backpacks of the supply packages granted to students in the primary and lower secondary cycles.
