This procedure is addressed to persons who hold an official qualification title in physiotherapy (according to Art. 11 of Law No. 229/2016) and who wish to practice the profession of physiotherapist on the territory of Romania.
According to the legal regulations in force, the physiotherapist practices the profession based on the license to practice freely issued by the College of Physiotherapists of Romania (CFZRO), approved annually.
Membership in the CFZRO is acquired upon request and is proven by the license to practice freely, which is issued upon registration in the professional organization. The license to practice freely consists of the main page and the annual approval.
The procedure for registration in the CFZRO is managed by the territorial colleges. Membership in a territorial college is determined by the place of work, and in its absence by the domicile/residence of the applicant.
According to Art. 11 of Law No. 229/2016, “By official qualification title in physiotherapy is meant:
a) bachelor's diploma issued by an accredited or provisionally authorized higher education institution in Romania in the following specializations:
(i) physiotherapy;
(ii) physio-kinetotherapy;
(iii) kinetotherapy, with a duration of studies of 4 years;
(iv) physical education and sport, specialization in kinetotherapy and special motricity, with a duration of studies of 3 years;
(v) kinetotherapy, with a duration of studies of 3 years;
(vi) physical education and sport, specialization in medical physical culture;
(vii) physical education and sport, with at least 19 years of experience in medical rehabilitation, employed in the health and spa or social assistance system as a medical physical culture teacher;
(viii) balneo-physio-kinetotherapy and rehabilitation;
b) bachelor's diploma or another title of physiotherapist/ masseur-kinetotherapist/ kinetotherapist, issued by one of the states provided in Art. 10 or by a third state recognized or equivalent in Romania by the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, according to the law;
c) certificate of graduation from the bachelor's exam in physiotherapy, kinetotherapy and special motricity, balneo-physio-kinetotherapy and rehabilitation, issued at the request of the graduate, which is valid until the bachelor's diploma is issued, but no more than 12 months from the date of issuance; d) any other bachelor's diploma issued by an accredited faculty which does not correspond to the specializations in letter a) and which is accompanied by a certificate issued by the respective faculty, certifying that the curriculum for obtaining the respective bachelor's diploma corresponds to that for practicing the profession of physiotherapist, under the conditions of this law.”
According to Art. 7 of Law No. 229/2016, “The profession of physiotherapist is practiced, on the territory of Romania, under the conditions of this law, by:
a) citizens of the Romanian state;
b) citizens of a member state of the European Union, of a state belonging to the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation;
c) the spouse of a Romanian citizen, as well as direct descendants and ascendants in direct line, who are supported by a Romanian citizen, regardless of their citizenship;
d) family members of a citizen of one of the states provided in letter b), as defined in Art. 2 paragraph (1) point 3 of Government Emergency Ordinance No. 102/2005 regarding the free movement on the territory of Romania of citizens of member states of the European Union and the European Economic Area, approved with amendments and completions by Law No. 260/2005, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions; e) citizens of third states, beneficiaries of the status of permanent resident in Romania; f) beneficiaries of the status of long-term resident, granted by one of the states provided in letter b).”
Fees and contributions:
Registration fee: 100 RON
Annual contribution – 300 RON, for the first year (representing 25 RON/month)
The registration/re-registration fee in CFZRO, in urgent mode (maximum 7 calendar days from the date of submission of the application) – 100 RON
Payment of the contribution is indivisible and is made annually, in a single installment upon registration in the CFZRO, to the account of the territorial college where you are to register.
