Through this procedure, the status of doctoral supervisor obtained in an accredited institution of higher education abroad is automatically recognized within the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. The procedure applies to Romanian citizens and citizens of member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation who have obtained the status of doctoral supervisor in accredited university institutions in member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other countries included in the "List of prestigious universities from other countries" approved by OMECTS no. 5825/2016 and periodically updated, for the purpose of settling in Romania. Only in the case of temporary exercise, the provisions of Law 200/2004 and Article 296 of Law 1/2011 apply directly. The exercise of the rights conferred by the status of doctoral supervisor and the occupation of a teaching position in the Romanian higher education system is carried out according to the legal norms in force.

The doctoral degree is found in Annex 2 of Law no. 200 of 2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania, with subsequent amendments and completions.*
