The procedure is described in Methodology regarding the recognition of the doctorate diploma in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, as well as the quality of doctoral supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, approved by the Senate of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad on 25.07.2019. This methodology applies within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

The quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained in accredited higher education institutions in member states of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, from the Swiss Confederation and in prestigious universities from other countries provided in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and updated periodically, is automatically recognized by "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.

The quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained from other accredited higher education institutions abroad, other than those mentioned above, is recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or inter-university level.

The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens of member states of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, and citizens of third countries.

In order to recognize the quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, the applicant submits the recognition file to the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, which will contain the following documents:

a) Application for recognition;

b) Identity document and proof of name change (if applicable);

c) Doctoral diploma, if the study document is obtained in Romania or at one of the accredited higher education institutions provided in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and updated periodically, or the recognition certificate issued by CNRED, if the study document is obtained at other accredited higher education institutions abroad;

d) Diploma/certificate attesting the quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, issued by the institutions provided in art.5, par. (1) and (2); e) CV and list of publications & scientific contributions. The file is registered after verifying the documents.
