In the field of sports, the merit allowance is granted to persons who have achieved outstanding results or have directly contributed to their achievement and who belong to the following categories:
a) athletes;
b) coaches;
c) medical staff and researchers;
d) referees;
e) other personalities who have participated in exceptional foreign actions for promoting Romania’s image.
The merit allowance is granted to persons nominated by the National Commission for Granting the Merit Allowance, based on the criteria for awarding the merit allowance provided in these law enforcement rules. The merit allowance may be granted to persons who have reached the age of 60.
