The timeframe for resolving the recognition file is 30 days from the moment the application is submitted, and the appeal can be filed within 30 days from the communication of the result, with its resolution being made within a maximum of 90 days from contestation. The recognition file is evaluated by an evaluation committee made up of three teaching staff members designated by the Department Council that manages the branch of science in which the doctoral title is granted and pronounces a solution regarding the recognition request, which is validated by the Department Council. The teaching staff members in the committee must hold a doctoral title in the same branch of science or in a related branch. Appeals are subject to approval by the University Senate, which appoints a re-evaluation committee formed of three teaching staff members different from those in the initial committee, to re-analyze the recognition file. The solution of the committee appointed by the senate is final and is validated in the first session of this body. The decision of recognition or non-recognition is issued by the rector, following the unchallenged solution pronounced by the evaluation committee and validated by the Department Council, or the solution of the re-evaluation committee validated by the senate.
