The purpose of this procedure is to regulate the recognition at the level of the West University of Timișoara (UVT) of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, for the purpose of enrolling in postgraduate programs, obtaining habilitation, occupying a teaching or research position within UVT.

The recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, is carried out based on the Order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research no. 5923/2016 for the approval of the Methodology regarding the recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad.

The study documents subject to recognition are authenticated with the Hague Apostille for countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, and for other countries the study documents are legalized or accompanied by a Certificate of authenticity issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin.

The committee that evaluates the recognition file and pronounces the solution regarding the recognition request, hereinafter referred to as the Evaluation Committee, consists of 5 members: the director of the doctoral school in the field of the thesis submitted for recognition, a member of the doctoral school specialized in the field of the doctoral thesis, the chief secretary of UVT, a representative of the Doctoral Studies Office, a representative of the Information and Documentation Resource Center of UVT. The representatives of the doctoral school and the Doctoral Studies Office are appointed by Decision of the CSUD Director (Annex 2). In the situation where recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in a field that is not part of IOSUD-UVT is requested, CSUD will propose a committee that may include members from other IOSUD and may have a structure distinct from the one mentioned.

The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union member states, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, and citizens of third countries.
