Operators with activity in the food sector who carry out import operations of foodstuffs of non-animal origin included in the list published as an annex to the Order of the ANSVSA president no. 145/2007, with subsequent amendments and completions, have the obligation to notify the import 24 hours before the arrival of the shipment.

The notification is made by sending the "Entry Document for Food Products of Non-Animal Origin" (DI), completed in part A, to the border inspection post through which the import is to be carried out.

Each shipment of food products of non-animal origin imported through border inspection posts is accompanied to its destination by the original DI, completed, signed, and stamped by the inspector of the veterinary sanitary and food safety authority from the border inspection post. In case the products destined for Romania have entered the territory of the European Community through entry points located in another member state, other than the border inspection posts designated on the territory of Romania, the economic operator shall notify the county and Bucharest municipality veterinary sanitary and food safety directorate of the arrival of the goods in the destination warehouse listed in the DI.

The notification is made 24 hours before the arrival of the goods at the final import point. Food products of non-animal origin that come from third countries and are introduced into the territory of Romania by mail or express courier are subject to official control according to the provisions of the Order of the ANSVSA president no. 145/2007, with subsequent amendments and completions.
