Details
The Romanian-American University automatically recognizes the doctorate diploma and the title of doctor in sciences, obtained from accredited higher education institutions abroad, according to the recognition procedure described below.

Eligibility

Applicants who have obtained the title of doctor at the following institutions are eligible to submit requests for the recognition of the doctorate diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field:

  • accredited higher education or research-development institutions from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation;
  • accredited higher education or research-development institutions included in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by ministerial order of the Ministry of National Education and Research, updated periodically;
  • accredited higher education or research-development institutions subject to an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.

Applicants who do not fall under one of the situations mentioned above are to address directly the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas within the relevant ministry - https://www.cnred.edu.ro/.

The recognition of the doctorate diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field is made solely for the purpose of enrollment in postgraduate programs, obtaining habilitation, occupying a teaching or research position within the Romanian-American University.

The doctoral degree is found at position no. A8 in Annex no. 2 of Law 200/2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania, with subsequent amendments and additions.*

Appeal routes
The decision may be contested within 30 days from the date of communication, through a reasoned request submitted to the University Registry. Appeals are resolved within 5 days by the appeal resolution committee, which consists of 5 members appointed by decision of the Rector. The response to the appeal is communicated directly, by email or by mail/courier company, to the applicant or their authorized representative, based on signature and certain date, by the Office of Academic Records. The procedure is developed and approved based on Ministerial Order no. 5923/2016 published in the Official Gazette no. 1014 dated 16.12.2016.
