In accordance with the legislative provisions in the field of child protection, namely Law no. 272/2004 regarding the protection and promotion of the rights of the child, the Guardianship Authority and Child Protection Office carries out activities of identifying and monitoring families and children in difficulty, preventing risk situations, preventing abandonment and separation of the child from their family, reintegrating the child into the family, as well as other actions aimed at respecting the rights of the child.

- Carries out activities of identification, intervention, and monitoring of children who are deprived of parental care during the period their parents are working abroad; evaluates the legal situation of the child, in order to identify a permanent solution for the child's protection and issues evaluation reports for parents who are to leave for work abroad for the purpose of delegating parental authority, in accordance with Government Decision no. 691/2015;
- Advises and informs families at risk, with dependent children, regarding their rights and obligations, about the rights of the children, monitors and analyzes the situation of the children, as well as the manner of respecting the children's rights, ensuring the centralization and summarizing of relevant data and information;
- Establishes partnerships and collaborates with non-governmental organizations and representatives of civil society in order to develop and support child protection measures;
- Conducts social inquiries regarding the way the minor is being raised and educated for the purpose of exercising parental authority, establishing the residence for the minor, establishing a visitation schedule, modifying child support, restraining order;
- Conducts social inquiries for minors for whom a protection measure has been established, for the purpose of reintegrating them into the natural family;
- Draws up the service plan through which the provision of services and benefits is planned in order to prevent the separation of the child from their family;
- Conducts social inquiries for the purpose of obtaining/renewing the maternal assistant certificate;
- Conducts social inquiries for persons requesting leave for minors from placement centers.
