Foreigners who travel to Romania to participate in official shooting competitions or to practice hunting, under the law, on the basis of a short stay visa or those who are exempt from the requirement of such a visa, according to the law, may, based on the approval for bringing weapons into the country, possess and, as applicable, carry and use hunting or shooting weapons that they own, if the weapons, essential components, and ammunition are listed in the border crossing documents. The approval for bringing weapons into the country can be granted to foreigners by the General Inspectorate of Border Police, valid for 30 days, under the following conditions: a) they prove legal ownership of the weapons in the country of origin; b) in the case of hunting weapons, they present a nominal invitation from a legally established game management unit in Romania, which operates under the provisions of Law no. 407/2006, as amended and supplemented, complying with the applicable legal provisions; c) in the case of shooting weapons, they prove that they are about to participate in a shooting competition organized by an association or sports shooting club affiliated to the relevant national sports federations; d) in the case of collection weapons, they prove that they are about to participate in a cultural, artistic, or historical event and present the invitation of a legally established collectors' association, or of a museum institution in Romania.*
