In order to obtain the authorization for transfer without prior consent of lethal or non-lethal weapons subject to authorization, as well as their essential parts and components, to a gunsmith or intermediary from a member state of the European Union, where such transfers are not conditioned on prior authorization, gunsmiths or intermediaries on the territory of Romania are required to first request the issuance of authorization from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police - Directorate of Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances, while individuals shall contact the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest or the county police inspectorate in whose territorial jurisdiction they have their domicile or residence. Transfer authorizations without prior consent may be canceled or, as the case may be, suspended by the competent police authorities, by reasoned decision, whenever there is certain information that the transfer operations present a danger to public order, national security, or the life and bodily integrity of persons. The validity period of the transfer authorization without prior consent is 36 months.*
