On the basis of civil status documents, certificates/multilingual extracts of birth and marriage are issued to the holders or their legal representatives, while the certificates/multilingual extracts of death are issued to family members, entitled persons, or, with the approval of the mayor of the administrative-territorial unit who registered the death, to other persons who justify a legitimate interest. Civil status certificates/Multilingual extracts of civil status documents may also be issued to other persons authorized by special power of attorney, as well as to lawyers authorized by the holders, their legal representatives, or, in the case of the death certificate/multilingual extract, by the entitled persons or family members, as appropriate, based on a lawyer’s authorization issued in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 51/1995 for the organization and practice of the lawyer’s profession, republished, with subsequent amendments and completions, and the Statute of the lawyer’s profession, adopted by the Decision of the Council of the National Union of Romanian Bar Associations no. 64/2011, with subsequent amendments and completions. Noble titles will not be entered in the civil status certificates/multilingual extracts, even if they have been recorded in certain civil status documents. The fees charged for this public service are established by decision of the Local Council.
