Criminal record certificates in electronic format are issued through the “hub.mai.gov.ro” platform. Issuing the criminal record certificate in electronic format is a free public service provided by the Romanian Police, through the Directorate for Criminal Records, Statistics, and Operational Records, and it is available only to beneficiaries registered in the “MAI Service Hub” platform who have successfully completed the validation procedures. The registration mechanisms in HUB are as follows: • directly in the “hub.mai.gov.ro” platform; • using a user account created in the “ghiseul.ro” platform; • depending on technical availability, using the electronic identity card (CEI); • through the ROeID application. Also, criminal record certificates can be obtained in physical format from any police subunit where there is a counter for issuing criminal record certificates. For Romanian citizens, the criminal record certificate in physical format is usually issued on the spot or within a maximum of 3 working days. For foreign citizens, the criminal record certificate in physical format is issued in approximately 30 days. For criminal record certificates issued to persons who are citizens of a member state other than Romania, an extract from the criminal record of the member state of citizenship shall be attached, and for certificates issued to nationals of third countries, an extract from the criminal record of member states holding information regarding their conviction on their territory shall be attached.*
