Details

Purpose of the procedure: The procedure is intended for the authorization of interpreters and translators for providing interpreting and translation services upon request of the authorities provided by Law no. 178/1997, namely: the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (including DIICOT), the National Anticorruption Directorate, criminal investigation bodies, judicial courts, notary public offices, lawyers, and judicial executors.

Beneficiaries of the procedure: Citizens of the member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation

Steps of the procedure

I. Checking the fulfillment of the legal provisions, based on the documents submitted by the applicants

II. Requesting by the Ministry of Justice and receiving the applicant's criminal record excerpt

III. Issuing the order of the Minister of Justice for the authorization of interpreters and translators

IV. Issuance of the interpreter and translator authorization - communicated by postal services (CN “Poșta Română” S.A) – registered letter without acknowledgment of receipt, sent to the address indicated by the applicant in the request (residence, domicile, or another address).

Fee

For authorization, the judicial stamp duty in the amount of 300 lei must be paid, for each foreign language for which authorization is requested (not for the Romanian language).

The fee is paid into the local budget account of the administrative-territorial unit in which the applicant has his/her domicile/residence (city hall).

If the applicant has neither domicile nor residence in Romania, the fee is paid into the account of the City Hall of District 5, Bucharest.

Payment can be made in cash / by bank transfer / online payment system (including at www.ghiseul.ro), at the city hall, bank units, CEC, State Treasury or at Poșta Română, but only to the local budget account of the city hall mentioned above.

It is mandatory for the receipt to expressly state: “judicial stamp duty for interpreter and translator authorization language …”.

Receipt representing the judicial stamp fee in the amount of 300 lei for each foreign language for which authorization as interpreter and translator is requested (not for the Romanian language) – scanned document.
