The maternal assistant is a natural person, certified under the conditions of Ordinance no.27/01.08.2024 regarding the conditions for obtaining the certificate, the certification procedure, and the status of the maternal assistant, who ensures at his/her residence or domicile the upbringing, care, and education of the child for the period during which the special protection measure of placement, emergency placement for the child separated, temporarily or permanently, from his/her parents is applied, or, as the case may be, during the respite period of another maternal assistant;
The evaluation, training of PFAM (persons, families, maternal assistant), certification of MA (maternal assistant) and monitoring of PFAM involves going through the phased assessment of the capacity of persons who request to become a foster person/family or maternal assistant and subsequently visiting them at their domicile, in accordance with the legislation in force.
The steps prior to starting the evaluation, PFAM training process, and certification as MA consist of informing the applicant, by a representative of the service, regarding the responsibilities involved in the activity of raising and caring for a child beneficiary of special protection measures.
