Recruitment, evaluation, certification and employment of the professional maternal assistant.*
The Family-Type Alternatives Department – The Professional Maternal Assistants Body ensures the protection of the child who requires the establishment of a protection measure that involves the raising, care, and education of the child by a professional maternal assistant, at their home.
The professional maternal assistant is the natural person, certified, employed by the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, who ensures at their home or, as the case may be, at their residence, the raising, care, and education of the child during the application of the special protection measure of placement, emergency placement for the child temporarily or permanently separated from their parents or, as the case may be, during the respite period of another maternal assistant.
Persons residing within the territorial area of Sector 5, interested in becoming a maternal assistant, submit to the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Sector 5 an application for the evaluation of their capacity, accompanied by the documents listed below.
The certificate is issued by the Child Protection Commission Sector 5, for an indefinite period and is reviewed every two years.
